Recently, we discovered a park just tucked away in the middle of Westmount. The mountain is all part of Montreal's Mount Royal and the park looked more like an urban forest surrounded by miniature chateau's. Summit Woods, the ideal haven for impromptu no fuss picnics and disconnecting from city life.
We love picnics, everything about them. While Mr. S loves the food and being outdoors, I love planning for a picnic from A to Z. From preparing the finger food, drinks, the basket, blankets and tablewear. One summer, after moving into our tiny apartment I bought a picnic basket. An obvious decision seeing as small space living equals more time in larger spaces outdoors. It's a beautiful basket, and Mr. S just loves lugging it about 😉. Recently, however, we decided to take a different kind of picnic and I loved it just as much. It was impromptu, after a long work day and fueled by a desire to just be outdoors and breathe. There was no picnic basket, no blanket, no cutlery and no picnic tables. We picked up some sushi, headed to Summit Woods, walked until we found the perfect tree trunk and got confortable. Just the two of us, alone in the middle of a tiny urban forest. It was so quite, the air so fresh and just one of those perfect moments that we look forward to recreating.
It is just wonderful the things we discover when we take the time to notice.
