Welcome to our space where we write our story. Today's post, my first one, will be about our attempts at driving green and what it means for us.
Six months ago we switched from ICE to EV... from what to what you wonder? I did too... From a conventional gas-powered internal combustion engine (ICE), aka your regular motor engine vehicle to a 100% Electric Vehicle (EV). It all started when a relaxing stroll around the city turned into an unexpected test drive that opened our mind to a world of possibility. We studied our options, mulled it over, took a few more test drives and mulled it over some more... Finally we seized the opportunity!
Realistically we knew that transitioning to an electric vehicle wouldn't be easy, but deep down we also knew it would be great fun! Our sense of adventure won out in the end and an adventure it has been. We still don't see that many electric cars about the streets. Infrastructures providing access to plug-in stations are slowly developing, but more are needed. An EV range on a full charge isn't an exact science, this reality makes each trip some sort of experiment especially when facing one of the coldest winters in 5 years.
So how do we do it, get to where we need to go without running out of electricity? What it is like driving an electric car when the climate doesn't always work to your advantage? All these situations and more I look forward to developing in upcoming posts, stay tuned!!
Voilà! our Smart fortwo Electric Drive. Looking at the pics you can tell, I'm sure, it was a real coup de coeur !
